Dr. Charles Maas is a retired pediatrician with an active interest in global public health, particularly in issues involving women and children.
Dr. Maas received his MD from the University of California, Irvine, and his Masters in Public Health (MPH) from the University of California, Berkeley, in Maternal and Child Health.
He completed a pediatric residency at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington.
Dr. Maas travels frequently to Central and Eastern Europe as a board member of 4D Ministries (4D Ministries.org), an organization supporting local church activities involving children in Eastern Europe, He volunteered on several short-term missionary trips to Romania as part of his local church and he lived in Okinawa, Japan, as part of the US Army Medical Corps early in his career. He looks forward to traveling to Africa in the future.
Dr. Maas has experience as a member/chair of various California local, county and state public and private health organizations. Dr. Maas was a county public health officer in Las Animas County, Colorado, and Fresno County, California He has volunteer experience with the US World Relief Resettlement Agency working with Afghanistan families. He also volunteered with a US women’s residential treatment center. He has a 30 year history as a general pediatric physician, and more recently he worked in child and adolescent psychiatry clinics.
After many years as a practicing Catholic, Dr. Maas became a “born again” Christian experiencing a more direct personal relationship with Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Dr. Maas continues to lead a weekly men’s Bible study and attends a bi-cultural Spanish/English local church. He is married and has four daughters and thirteen grandchildren.
