Funded by Chevron, and implemented at the Benson Hospital, Paynesville, Liberia, the program started in July of 2015 and lasted for one year.
The primary goal of the program was to contribute and accelerate the reduction of maternal & neonatal mortality in Liberia.
The program major objectives included the following:
- Provide quality antenatal care to 20,000 patients and 500 inpatients deliveries in one year
- Train 10 nurses and 5 midwives on Basic Emergency Obstetric & Newborn Care; & 5 doctors on Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric & Newborn Care through coaching and E-learning
- Provide specialized quality neonatal & child care to reduce neonatal mortality rate and Under-5 mortality rate by 5% annually
- Use innovative & strategic community outreach approaches to promote clinic utilization & community health interventions
- Establish & train 4 staff members on the use of electronic data record & management system
